Full description
The Sonian Forest spreads across more than 5,000 hectares of old beech and oak groves, offering a very different pace from the city only a short ride away. Visitors describe numerous trails, lakes with fish, horses and a castle, with enough space that crowds rarely form.
Bus 366 from Ixelles is one direct way in, and a downloaded map helps with navigation. It is open all hours and rewards a visit of about two and a half hours, with winter and spring both singled out as especially beautiful.
