Municipality of Saint-Gilles

4.0 ·

Detour to the Municipality of Saint-Gilles, a town hall with architecture that surprises even longtime residents. Walk around the building, take in its facade, and enjoy this less-visited commune.

📖

Full description

The Municipality of Saint-Gilles is the civic hall of one of Brussels' communes, noted by reviewers for architecture that stands out even among the city's varied town halls. It is a working administrative building, with limited public hours for services and queues at the population division.

Visitors interested in architecture usually stop for the exterior, about 15 minutes, preferably on a weekday morning when it is open. It suits those exploring Saint-Gilles beyond the usual central sights.

Reviews

Quite surprised to see this place in Brussels after living here for almost 2 years. We came across this building while biking around Brussels. Amazing architecture compared to other communes in Brussels. Just dunno how the staff working inside though as the area is quite mixed race. Will drop by again maybe in summer…
