La Fonderie, Brussels Museum of Industry and Labour

4.5 ·

Visit La Fonderie, a museum of industry and labour in a former foundry in Molenbeek. Walk the yard of old machines, then explore the galleries on Brussels' workers and immigrants.

📖

Full description

La Fonderie occupies an old industrial site in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean and traces the industrial history of Brussels and the lives of its workers. A large yard holds old industrial equipment, the ground floor shows machinery, and an upper floor explores the experience of immigrants arriving in the city.

Reviewers praise the interactive elements for children and the focused selection of pieces, and note an English folder for reading. Plan about 45 minutes, plus time to walk the outdoor yard.

Reviews

Had fun walking in the ‘garden’ and through the museum itself. There’s a far amount of interactive stuff for the kids. Upstairs was trying to show you how it would be if you were an immigrant arriving in the country, here most of the tech didn’t work for us.
