Step into the Church of Our Lady of the Chapel, one of Brussels' oldest places of worship. Admire the Gothic interior, the column statues and the tomb of Pieter Bruegel the Elder.

📖

Full description

The Church of Our Lady of the Chapel dates to 1134 and has been reshaped over the centuries, moving from a Romanesque beginning to a largely Gothic form. Inside, visitors find detailed stonework, statues set against the columns and stained glass, and the church is the resting place of Pieter Bruegel the Elder.

Reviewers say it is richer in art and detail than expected and often worth entering even if it was not on the itinerary. A visit takes around 15 minutes, and opening hours are limited, with Monday closed.
