19grams Chaussee

4.5 (1,458)$ · Budget-friendly

19grams Chaussee keeps things simple by design, reviewers say, offering excellent coffee alongside a small, focused menu of items like croissants and brownies rather than trying to be everything to everyone. That restraint seems to work in its favor — the coffee and croissant combination gets singled out repeatedly as a satisfying, no-fuss breakfast stop. At 4.5 stars over nearly 1,500 reviews, it's a reliable pick for a quick, quality coffee break in Mitte without needing to browse an extensive menu.

What people say

"19grams Chaussee is a no-nonsense place. Excellent coffee, a handful of standard items like croissants and brownies and a few more items - which I think are part of a rotating menu - that are prepared in the kitchen. The food was good. We tried a croissant, a blondie, a veggie sausage roll, endive and celeriac ciabbata and a mushroom ciabbata. All were nice. The veggie sausage roll was made out of actual vegetables rather than meat substitutes, so that was good. The person running the place - a moustachioed hunk - takes the no-nonsense ethos seriously: he neither made us feel welcome not did he make us feel unwanted. A little bit of warmth will make 19g go places. In their defence, they did have a badge of honour (see pics) that upped their decent human beings credentials."
