Food
Suculent takes hearty Catalan dishes and elevates them with fine-dining technique, aiming for a balance between refined cooking and the comfort-food roots of the cuisine. At 4.6 stars from 1,695 reviews and a must-see score of 76, most diners describe it as one of the more memorable meals of a Barcelona trip, though a minority find the tasting menu less distinctive compared to the city's very top tier. Its high aesthetic score reflects careful plating that doesn't lose sight of the rustic dishes underneath. It suits diners wanting Catalan flavours reworked with technical polish rather than pure innovation.

What people say
"We booked this restaurant for a belated birthday meal. It was a nice enough experience but nothing special. In fact, of all the tasting menus I’ve had across the world, this was my least favourite one. We had the five (or was it six?) course tasting menu. So the first thing to say is that they are in a hurry to serve you. As soon as you’ve finished the last bite of a course, the next course arrives. It got a bit frustrating, so we started eating slowly to pace the meal. Next up, one of us was a driver so we asked for the wine paring for one of us only, and the other one would share/sip a bit of the wine but mostly have water. But no, this wasn’t allowed. You had to both have the wine paring or not at all. How weird! No restaurant with a tasting menu has ever said that to us before. It doesn’t make sense. So we ordered a wine paring for each of us, and one of us drank a lot more than the other. Opinions on food and drink are subjective of course, so others may disagree with me here. Usually when you try a tasting menu, at least some of the course give you a ‘wow’ factor. But for us, it was more of a ‘meh’. The food was all well made but we weren’t sure that any of it was particularly special, and that included the signature dish, steak tartare and bone marrow. We like the deserts more than the courses beforehand. The wines were all good, better than the food in our opinion, but it was somewhat unusual to start with white, then move to red, then back to white. And to have a sherry grape near the end. Others may disagree, but that didn’t work for us. Anyway, worth a try, but we won’t be back."
