Parc de Cervantes was developed around a large rose garden that today displays thousands of varieties from around the world, reaching peak bloom each spring when Barcelona hosts an international rose-growing competition here. Away from the historic centre, it draws fewer tourists than Barcelona's headline parks, giving it a calmer, more local feel even during the rose season. Reviewers who visit specifically for the flowers describe the variety and density of roses as rivalling far more famous gardens.

"This park is so special and I was so amazed that it was so empty during the weekend. Although there were some people taking professional pictures. There was also a memorial of 13 roses which was so heartbreaking. Overall, it’s a fantastic park and you can have a great picnic in a calm place."
