Set out for Vuurtoreneiland, the fort restaurant on a small island in the IJmeer. Sail across the water for about an hour, then settle in beside the fire for a multi-course meal.
Full description
Vuurtoreneiland is a dining experience as much as a restaurant: guests take a boat trip of around an hour to a small island in the IJmeer, then eat in a fort with an open fire. Reviewers describe the five-course fine dining as ambient and cosy, and mention both a summer and a winter version of the restaurant.
Rated 4.5 across 510 reviews and priced at the expensive end, it suits couples and special occasions. Plan a long outing rather than a quick lunch, since travel time is part of the visit, and note that it is closed on Mondays.

A real unique fine dining experience! 5 courses served in an ambient and cozy fort! If you are sitting far from the fire place might be a bit chilly tho! But overall, can be cooler than A’dam so add one more layer if you are visiting the winter restaurant. For being lactose intolerant, nice alternatives are served…
