Seek out Molen De Otter, a wind-powered sawmill dating from around 1631 that sits well off the tourist trail. Wander around its exterior and the quiet tenement streets that now surround it.
Full description
Molen De Otter dates from around 1631 and worked as a sawmill, a reminder of the industry that once surrounded the city. It stands among tenement houses outside the busy centre, so a visit feels quieter than at the windmills tourists usually seek out.
Visitors report it is mainly seen from the outside, as the interior is not always open to the public. Reviewers describe it as a well-preserved piece of old Amsterdam rather than a polished attraction.
It suits a short stop of around fifteen minutes on a wider walk through the western neighbourhoods.

A great preserved old windmill this one was used as a sawmill. The windmill wasnt open to view inside when we went but we were able to wonder around outside. Not many old windmills left in Amsterdam well worth the walk. But didnt get to see the little mouse with clogs on
