Spend an easy hour or two in Amstelpark, a sprawling green space in Amsterdam-Zuid. Greet the farm animals, ride the little train, test the maze and settle on a lawn for a picnic.
Full description
Amstelpark is a big green space in Amsterdam-Zuid built for slow, varied wandering. Families come for the free farm animals such as alpaca and goats, the miniature train that circles the grounds, and the maze, while others use the paths for running or quiet strolls past ponds with sculptures.
Cafes, picnic areas and play equipment sit alongside a cycleway that follows the Amstel. It is open daily from early morning until late evening, and the high walking intensity reflects how much ground the park covers.
