Food
Zur letzten Instanz carries the highest culture score in this Berlin set, and reviewers back up its historical standing directly, with one noting outright that it's the oldest restaurant in the city and worth booking ahead for that reason alone. The Spargelcremesuppe and pickled vegetables draw specific praise, served in a dark, atmospheric interior that some find a little too dim for their taste, with a terrace offering a brighter alternative. At 4.2 stars across nearly 3,500 reviews, it's a well-established stop for travelers wanting a genuine taste of old Berlin dining culture. It rewards a visit made specifically for the history as much as the food.

What people say
"Nice place. The interior was a little bit dark for my taste. We opted for lunch outside on the terrace. Nice exterior area with shade. Went without a reservation on Thursday at 13:00. Was 20% occupied. I was surprised as I read reservation was highly recommended. The food was really great. Sausage was delicious. Great knuckle and good meatballs. Alao had the cheese dumplings. We ordered two entrees and two main dishes and was enough for party of for with two teenagers. Would definitely go back is in in the area"
