Gretchen

ā˜… 4.2 (1,051)$$ Ā· Mid-range

Gretchen operates out of a former Prussian riding hall in Kreuzberg, and its vaulted brick architecture gives it one of the more visually striking interiors among Berlin's nightlife venues, reflected in its high aesthetic score. The space regularly alternates between live concerts and DJ-driven club nights, giving it a broader cultural footprint than a single-purpose nightclub. Some reviewers note that structural columns can obstruct sightlines to the stage during concerts, worth keeping in mind for gig nights specifically. It's a strong pick for visitors wanting striking architecture alongside solid live music and club programming.

✨ Reasons to go

  • 1Housed in a former Prussian riding hall in Kreuzberg, giving the venue vaulted brick architecture unusual for a nightclub.
  • 2The program alternates between live concerts and DJ club nights rather than sticking to one format.
  • 3Original structural columns remain in the hall, which can partially block stage sightlines during concerts.

šŸ’” Good to know

  • 1Check whether the night is a concert or a club night, as the two differ significantly in vibe
  • 2note that support columns can partially obstruct stage views during live shows

What people say

"It was an amazing concert. The sound was great, but because of columns you can’t see the artists clearly. But for kids it’s a small problem if they are at the back of the concert hall, because if there are some tall people, kids can’t see anything but there is a table so they can just stay on it."
