Fornace Stella - Piazza Lecce

4.5 (1,458)$$ · Mid-range

Fornace Stella sits on a residential piazza away from the main sightseeing routes, and its very high local score bears that out — reviewers note it's genuinely full of Italians rather than visitors. The menu keeps to reliable pasta and pizza rather than reinvention, served in a casual setting suited to a relaxed evening. At 4.5 stars from close to 1,500 reviews, it has built a strong following without becoming a tourist destination. It's best treated as an evening or late dinner option for travellers wanting to eat where Romans actually eat.

What people say

"My husband and I visited the restaurant on a Thursday evening. We didn't have a reservation, but there were still a few seats available (although I think it's worth booking, especially for larger groups). The food was delicious! I had a zucchini cream pizza and pear roche, and my husband had carbonara pasta and lemon sorbet. The house white wine was also brilliant - I love that in Italy these never disappoint. The staff were all very nice and the atmosphere of the restaurant was also very good. It was mostly filled with locals, I didn't hear many foreign voices."
