LUCIANO Cucina Italiana - Roma

4.0 (3,885)$$$ · Expensive

LUCIANO Cucina Italiana sits near the Teatro di Pompeo in the historic centre, and its carbonara has earned a specific local endorsement, one reviewer notes a Roman friend named it their favourite version in the city, made properly with guanciale. Reviewers also mention a pleasantly unhurried, uncrowded dining room with attentive service, a contrast to some of the more frantic tourist-area restaurants nearby. At 4.0 from nearly 3,900 reviews and expensive pricing, it sits a notch below some of its immediate rivals on this list but remains a solid, centrally located choice for a proper carbonara without a long wait. What people say

"This was another carbonara place I went to where are other roman local shared that this was his favourite carbonara place. Of course I had to try! Needless to say, it was excellent! The guanciale used was half dryaged so there was a unique flavour added to it. Pasta was fresh and chewy too. I also shared a beef tartar with my friend which was delicious. Service was pretty good too with friendly waiters. The atmosphere is very relaxed, and more elegant. A few couples and families were eating here too which was nice. The dessert was pretty good too, honestly can't remember what I ordered but it was something with pears. The pastry was light and crunchy, not too sweet, and the cream was light but tasty too. Overall a great place for dinner."
