Panoramapunkt Berlin

4.7 (1,698)$$ · Mid-range

Panoramapunkt sits near the top of the Kollhoff Tower, one of the taller buildings in the Potsdamer Platz development, and its main draw beyond the view is the elevator ride itself, among the fastest in Europe, covering the ascent in a matter of seconds. From the deck, visitors get a 360-degree view that takes in the TV Tower, the Reichstag, and the layout of the redeveloped Potsdamer Platz below, along with information boards explaining the area's Cold War-era history as part of the Wall's death strip. Reviewers frequently position it as a solid, less crowded alternative to the Fernsehturm for similar panoramic views at a comparable or lower cost. It's a quick, efficient stop that pairs naturally with exploring the rest of Potsdamer Platz at street level.

✨ Reasons to go

  • 1The observation deck sits atop the Kollhoff Tower and is reached by one of the fastest elevators in Europe.
  • 2Information boards at the top detail the site's history as part of the Berlin Wall's death strip.
  • 3A section of the Berlin Wall is displayed at the viewing deck.

💡 Good to know

  • 1Read the information boards at the top explaining Potsdamer Platz's Cold War history as a former death strip
  • 2consider it as a less crowded, often cheaper alternative to the TV Tower for similar views
  • 3combine with exploring the Sony Center and shops at Potsdamer Platz below.

What people say

"The best alternative to Berlin TV tower with an additional benefit of riding the fastest elevator in Europe :) Panoramapunkt gives a beautiful 360 degree view of the city. It was not at all crowded during our visit. We got a 1€ discount on entry tickets due to the Berlin Welcome Card. The overall experience is amazing and peaceful. It’s a 2 floor viewing deck at the top and since it is not covered by glass, the experience is worthwhile and makes a great photo spot. Definitely a must visit."
