Food
Supplizio focuses on a single Roman specialty, the deep-fried, cheese-filled rice ball known as supplì, and turns it into something close to an art form, with reviewers noting affordable prices, quick service, and genuinely crispy, well-balanced results. A classic version sits alongside more inventive takes like a carbonara-flavoured supplì, giving repeat visitors something to compare. Its 4.5 rating from over 3,200 reviews and a near-maximum must-see score confirm its place as one of the essential quick bites in central Rome, best suited to a fast, cheap snack between sights rather than a full meal.

"Supplì is one of those places that almost everyone recommends when visiting Rome, so I had to give it a try. The prices are affordable, the service is quick, and it’s an easy stop if you’re looking for a snack while exploring the city. That said, as someone from Spain and the Mediterranean, I have to admit I found it a bit underwhelming. At the end of the day, it’s essentially a ball of rice, and although it’s filled with tomato sauce and melted mozzarella, I personally felt it could have had much more flavor. The cheese pull is satisfying and the outside is nicely crispy, but the inside tasted a little too plain for my taste. I understand that it’s a traditional Roman street food, and many people absolutely love it, but I was expecting something with a bit more character. Maybe my expectations were too high after hearing so many recommendations. On the positive side, it’s inexpensive, freshly made, and worth trying at least once if you’ve never had a supplì before. Even though it wasn’t my favorite Roman food, I’m still glad I tried it. If you’re curious about local specialties, it’s a fun experience—but personally, I think Rome has many other dishes that are far more memorable."
