La Vila Olímpica del Poblenou

Vila Olímpica was built from scratch to house athletes for the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and afterward converted into a planned residential neighborhood, instantly recognizable by its twin skyscrapers — the Hotel Arts and the Torre Mapfre — flanking the marina. Unlike the medieval tangle of the old town, its streets are wide, modern, and orderly, fronting directly onto Port Olímpic's yacht marina and a long stretch of sandy beach lined with seafood restaurants and beach clubs. It has less historic character than most Barcelona neighborhoods but offers a genuinely pleasant seafront walk, good beachfront dining, and a nightlife strip around the marina that gets lively on summer evenings. It sits between Barceloneta and the more industrial-turned-creative Poblenou proper.
