Boccione

4.2 (1,495)$ · Budget-friendly

Boccione is a no-frills, long-standing bakery on Via del Portico d'Ottavia in Rome's Jewish Ghetto, holding a 4.2 rating from nearly 1,500 reviews built more on heritage and character than polish. Reviewers describe the ricotta and cherry pie and the raisin-studded strudel as memorable enough that some came back the very next day to try more, treating a visit as much a piece of Roman-Jewish history as a snack stop. It suits travelers interested in an authentic, unglamorous taste of the Ghetto's culinary tradition rather than a photogenic café experience.

What people say

"This is a unique experience. Do the pies deserve 5 stars? Maybe 4. They are good enough to come try if you want a piece of history and heritage. I got the cherry and the chocolate. I would like to address two items from my experience. Rude service - I didn’t get any. The lady was very nice. Did she smile and start conversation ? NO. I am not sure what people want. This is not cocktail. She doesn’t dance sing and juggle pies. Price gouging - she weighs the slices you get and you get charged by your slice. If some got a big slice from them they would pay more than someone with a smaller slice. Thank you for the service. I’m sure the store is not labeled as a Jewish store so people won’t vandalize it. But they have all the symbols inside. Must try experience and unique food."
