Casa de les Punxes

Officially Casa Terradas, this Modernista apartment building earned its nickname, Casa de les Punxes, from the six pointed towers that give it a medieval castle silhouette in the middle of the grid-planned Eixample district. Designed by Josep Puig i Cadafalch, the same architect behind Casa Amatller, it was built for three sisters as a combined family residence, and its exterior brickwork and ceramic tile details are considered among his finest work. The building now functions as offices and an event space, so interior access has historically been limited or ticketed depending on current programming, which reviewers note before planning a full visit. Most simply admire it from the street, where the striking silhouette alone justifies a short detour.
