Landmark

W Barcelona

4.4 (18,871)Free

Designed by architect Ricardo Bofill and opened in 2009, the W Barcelona's curved, sail-like silhouette marks the point where the city's beachfront meets the port, and it's become a skyline landmark visible from much of the waterfront even for those not staying there. Most of the tens of thousands of reviews come from hotel guests praising the rooms and service, but the building's rooftop bar and beachside setting also draw visitors purely for a drink or the view rather than a stay. As a landmark, it's best appreciated from a distance along the Barceloneta beach promenade, where its glass form catches the light dramatically at sunset. It fits naturally into a beach walk or bike ride along Barcelona's waterfront.

What people say

"Our stay at W Barcelona was absolutely wonderful and one of our most memorable hotel experiences in recent years. First of all, the newly renovated rooms are simply stunning. The design, atmosphere, comfort and breathtaking views made it a pleasure to return to the room every day. What stood out most during this visit was the exceptional attentiveness of almost every team member we encountered. While our check-in experience was not quite on the same level as the rest of the stay, it was a very minor detail and certainly not something that affected our overall experience. A special thank you goes to Precie (apologies if I misspelled your name), who was incredibly kind throughout our stay. Her warm hospitality, personal attention and the wonderful room upgrade she arranged for us for our last two days made our visit even more special. We truly appreciated her efforts. As Marriott Bonvoy members, we were delighted to find a bottle of sparkling wine waiting in our room when we came back and two Cocktail voucher. Whether it was due to our membership status or because we have stayed with you several times before, it was a thoughtful gesture that made us feel genuinely welcomed and valued. The biggest highlight, however, was Pablo at breakfast. We chose to have breakfast exclusively at FIRE largely because of him. Every morning he greeted us with such warmth, kindness and genuine enthusiasm that he turned breakfast into one of the best parts of our day. On our final morning, he surprised us with a beautiful fruit platter, chocolate-covered strawberries and two glasses of champagne. It was such a thoughtful and heartfelt gesture that genuinely touched us. Pablo is one of the kindest and most genuine hospitality professionals we have ever met. Thank you for making our stay so memorable. W Barcelona has once again reminded us why we keep coming back. The location, the renovated rooms, the atmosphere and, above all, the people make this property truly special. We will most certainly return. One very small and light-hearted suggestion: perhaps consider adding a toilet brush to the bathrooms. Even the most beautiful 5-star bathrooms can benefit from a toilet brush! 😄 Thank you again to the entire team, and especially to Precie (whatever wehnever supervisor) and Pablo (from Fire Resturant), for an unforgettable stay."
