Museo delle Cere

3.6 (2,394)$ · Budget-friendly

This wax museum near Piazza Venezia presents figures spanning pop culture, history, and religion, offering a lighter, more casual counterpoint to the serious art and archaeology dominating Rome's museum scene. Reviews are noticeably polarized - some visitors describe a fun, easy-to-find attraction with a good range of figures for a modest entry fee, while others dismiss it as dated compared to larger wax museums elsewhere in Europe, which shows up clearly in its relatively low 3.6 rating despite over 2,300 reviews. Its modest scores across the board confirm this is a novelty stop rather than a cultural landmark, best suited to travelers looking for a quick, undemanding diversion or visiting with children. Set expectations accordingly rather than comparing it to Rome's major institutions.

What people say

"Fun place, very easy to locate. Entry fee is minimal and they have a great selection of your favourite famous figures. These span from pop culture to religious and all that is in between. I traveled solo and the attendant at the museo was kind enough to take photographs of me since I was alone. He was a very nice and jovial person. Put this museo on your quick list. It took about 45 minutes to get through it but can be done faster. I was just having a great time."
