Neighborhoods/walks

Peckham

Free

Peckham's high street holds one of London's largest African and Caribbean markets, with fabric shops, fishmongers, and hair salons that reflect one of the city's most diverse communities. Over the past decade an arts scene has grown up alongside it โ€” the multi-storey Bold Tendencies sculpture project and Frank's Cafe rooftop bar occupy a former car park with skyline views, and Peckham Rye park offers green space nearby. The mix of long-standing market stalls and newer bars and studios makes it one of London's more genuinely mixed neighbourhoods rather than a uniformly gentrified one. It's still finding its balance between the two.
