Food
BRAT takes its name and cooking style from Basque grill culture, with whole fish and char-driven dishes cooked over open flame at the centre of the room. Reviewers consistently highlight the atmosphere — lively without being chaotic, service that's attentive but unhurried — alongside food that feels celebratory rather than everyday. At 4.5 stars, expensive pricing, and a strong trendy score, it draws a fashionable Shoreditch crowd as well as visitors seeking out one of London's more talked-about grill restaurants. It works well for a group dinner or a date built around sharing plates rather than a solo quiet meal.

What people say
"The service was excellent throughout. Friendly, welcoming and attentive, with dishes arriving promptly without ever feeling rushed. The atmosphere is lively, although the dining room is a little too cosy for my taste. At a restaurant of this calibre, I would have preferred a bit more space rather than dining elbow to elbow with neighbouring tables. It is also very loud. The food was outstanding. Every dish was generous, full of rich, authentic flavours and made with exceptionally fresh ingredients. One thing to keep in mind is that many of the signature protein dishes are very large and designed for sharing. Because of that, and the fact that every dish was quite generous, I think Brat is better suited to small groups than couples. Ordering several dishes and sharing them is the best way to experience the menu."
