In fact, after taking your photo with the Bocca della Verità, you have to walk through the church to exit, so every visitor gets the chance to admire this beautiful historic building. Admission is completely free, although donations are welcomed to help maintain the church. The church itself is peaceful and surprisingly beautiful inside. After the crowds around the Mouth of Truth, stepping into the quiet interior feels like a welcome change. The architecture is elegant, the atmosphere is calm, and it’s well worth taking a few extra minutes to look around instead of rushing straight out. One practical tip: if you’re visiting the Mouth of Truth, try to arrive early in the morning. The queue can become quite long later in the day, especially during the tourist season.
