Trecca - Roma

4.4 (1,423)$$$ · Expensive

Trecca positions itself as a neo-trattoria, updating classic Roman dishes with a more contemporary sensibility, and reviewers are largely won over by the cooking, which one calls incredible. The service style draws more mixed reactions, though, with at least one reviewer describing a slightly aloof, too-cool attitude from waitstaff and finding the wine list thinner and less interesting than expected for the price point. At 4.4 from over 1,400 reviews and expensive pricing, it suits diners more focused on inventive food than on old-school warmth, and its evening-only slots make it a dedicated dinner destination rather than a casual lunch stop.

💡 Good to know

  • 1Book ahead for evening slots, since it's a dinner-focused restaurant
  • 2go in for the food rather than expecting particularly warm hospitality, per some reviewer accounts
  • 3ask staff directly for wine recommendations if the printed list feels limited

What people say

"I had hoped to meet up with my son & family so I booked this location by recommendation.Due to a timing issue, it just didn't happen but I made the decision I was going to go even if alone.I had the artichoke Roman style as the appetizer, a salad of garlic fronds(?) super fresh with anchovy, the bucatini with guanciale, and zabaione for dessert & expresso. All of it was outstanding. Very welcoming, friendly and no one hovered just aware & attentive. No hard liquors or beer just wine. You need reservations but it's a neighborhood family restaurant. An excellent choice; it's the bestest meal I had in ages and it made me happy it was so good. There was a great vibe, good food & good company makes for an awesome time. I would endorse this place 100%."
