Breakfast
MAE builds its brunch menu around lighter, health-focused cooking — avoiding heavy fats while still offering a wide variety of options — a deliberate approach reviewers appreciate on Via della Giuliana. One reviewer, visiting on their last day in Rome, expressed regret at not discovering it sooner, a sentiment that echoes across other feedback. Its balanced, moderate key scores suggest a solidly good but not yet widely known destination. It's a good choice for travellers wanting a brunch that feels a little lighter than Rome's richer traditional fare.

"Cannot express enough how EXCELLENT this spot was! This is our last day in Rome and I wish we’d known about Mae sooner because we’d have come more than once. The food was amazing, the menu and sourcing of ingredients are very intentional and ethical. We ordered the avocado toast and a build your own bagel (scrambled egg, sausage, monterrey jack, + chive cream cheese on the side). The bagel was outstanding—I’ve had many sad bagels traveling across different countries so I was a bit weary but this was honestly one of the best I’ve had anywhere (I feel very strongly about bagel quality as someone from the east coast of the US where I feel we have excellent bagels). Avocado toast was standard—very tasty and reliable if that’s a meal you usually enjoy. The banana bread was killer, SO delicious, served to you warm and covered in granola, peanut butter and Nutella. We also had an iced latte and cold brew (with milk + vanilla)—both AMAZING. If you’re looking for a bit of respite from Italian food and want something different, or just a more substantial breakfast, this place is absolutely worth a try. The food, ambiance, and service were all fantastic. :-)"
